Giving that makes a difference.
To serve the larger community, residents established the Sailfish Point Foundation in 1999 as a means of assisting staff members and their children with educational expenses. The willing participation of community residents led the program to expand far beyond the community to become one of the area’s most generous foundations. As of 2009, the program had awarded 90 scholarships to the children of Sailfish Point employees, 50 to employees and over $1.7 million in scholarships for 485 Martin County students. Today the Sailfish Point Foundation is Martin County’s largest private donor.
The Sailfish Point Foundation has been repeatedly recognized for its philanthropic efforts. In 2008, the Association of Professional Fundraisers of the Treasure Coast recognized Sailfish Point as the "Outstanding Group Supporting Philanthropy.” In 2009, the foundation received the Commissioner's Business Recognition Award from the Martin County School Board.
